Exploring the beauty of Malaysia and it's rich cultural heritage was never more fun for me than THIS trip to Sarawak, Borneo. And heading out on a traditional Malaysian long boat before any other tourists in Gunung Mulu National Park was the BEST choice to enhance my travel experience. Not only was I able to shoot the Cave of the Winds and Clearwater Cave in the UNESCO World Heritage Site without anyone else around but it offered me a glimpse into real village life along the Sungai Melinau Paku river that I would have never seen otherwise. Ship launching is the process of transferring a vessel to the water. It is a naval tradition in many cultures, dating back thousands of years. It has been observed as a public celebration and a solemn blessing. Ship launching imposes stresses on the ship not met during normal operation, in addition to the size and weight of the vessel, and it represents a considerable engineering challenge as well as a public spectacle. The process also involves many traditions intended to invite good luck, such as christening by breaking a sacrificial bottle of champagne over the bow as the ship is named aloud and launched. There are three principal methods of conveying a new ship from building site to water, only two of which are called "launching." The oldest, most familiar, and most widely used is th...

Malaysia's navy says it will turn away any more boats carrying Rohingya and Bangladeshi migrants to its shores unless they are sinking. Marine northern commander Tan Kok Kwee said Tuesday that waters around Langkawi island where several wooden vessels have landed in the past three days will be patrolled 24 hours a day by a total of eight ships. Tan said, "We won't let any foreign boats come in." Since the weekend, more than 1,000 migrants in boats have landed on Langkawi, and another 600 have come ashore on Indonesia's westernmost province of Aceh. http://feeds.foxnews.com/~r/foxnews/world/~3/Pkjr7W9a9AM/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://creator.wochit.com

"We were starving, there was no food or water. The children were crying." - With no help in sight, Roshid, a young Rohingya man, made a brave decision. Earlier this year, Roshid, from Rakhine state, Myanmar, boarded a smugglers' boat in the Bay of Bengal. The smugglers promised to take him to Malaysia. In May, after months at sea, the smugglers abandoned Roshid and 408 other passengers on his boat. They were stranded in the Andaman Sea, less than 50km northwest of Langkawi, Malaysia. At least eight passengers had already died. In this travel video travel guide to Malaysia, I travel to Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, and to Terangganu, the country's second-largest city. I start off my trip by exploring Kenyir Lake, located just west of Terangganu, which is actually the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia (it's the size of Singapore). I head to the far end of the lake by speedboat to go trekking into the hilly jungle where I come across a school of hungry fish waiting for eager tourists like myself to provide them with a cheap snack. I then head back on the lake to explore the many islands that call this lake home. Next, I head back onto the water -- this time onto the ocean -- to do a little squid jigging as part of the first annual Terengganu International Squid Jigging Fest. Squid jigging, for thos...

It's the largest and probably the most important and influential city in Malaysia and truly has some amazing sites to offer. Along with modern skyrise towers like the Petronas Towers, there are still lots of traditional historic buildings as well. The awesome mixture of cultures, the mix of traditional and modern, and very importantly, the outstanding cuisine is what makes Kuala Lumpur such a great city to explore! 1. Join us as we visit Kuala Lumpur exploring the best 25 things to do in the city in this Kuala Lumpur travel guide. As the capital and largest city in Malaysia it is hard to believe its name deriving from Malay means 'muddy river confluence' considering it has grown from a tin mining village to one of the most dynamic cities in Southeast Asia. Few cities around the world offer up a melting pot of cuisines (including Malay, Chinese and Indian) while featuring some of the world's cheapest 5-star accommodations. You'll find plenty of green escapes in the form of parks and botanical gardens but you'll also be dazzled by the impressive Petronas Towers which are shine at night. Whether you're eating street food in Chinatown or Jalan Alor or shopping until you drop at KLCC there is something fo...

Travel video about destination Malaysia. Malaysia is an exotic world located in the Far East, full of tradition and history. We begin our journey in Malacca, the oldest city on the southwest coast of the Peninsular Malaysia that boasts six hundred years of history. Both Portuguese and Jesuit settlers lived here for a hundred and thirty years and introduced their culture to the region. The city’s history dates back to 1403 when Hindu prince, Paramesware of the Sri Vijaya Realm in Sumatra, established a sultanate. The Chinese-dominated area of the city extends across the opposite banks of the river where the mainly two storey residential and business premises are densely packed together. In contrast, the Cheng Hoon Temple is one of the oldest temples in Malaysia and nearby is the Kampung Klin...

The intermixing of Malay, Chinese and Indian people and traditions made available for me an amazing array of flavor palettes, tonalities, style and rhythms quite unlike anything I have ever experienced in my travels through the world.
